Brachium Muscles Flashcards
Origin: Distal 1/2 of the anterior shaft of the humerus
Insertion: Tuberosity and coronoid process of the ulna
Action: Flexes the forearm at the elbow joint
Brachialis
Origin: Apex of the coracoid process of the scapula
Insertion: Middle 1/3 of the medial shaft of the humerus
Action: Flexes and adduct the arm at the glenohumeral joint
Coracobrachialis
O: Lateral epicondyle of the humerus
I: Lateral side of the olecranon process and proximal 1/4 of the posterior ulna
A: Extends the forearm at the elbow joint
Anconeus
What muscle’s short head originates from the apex of the coracoid process of the scapula?
Biceps Brachii Short Head
Long head Origin: Supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Insertion: Tuberosity of the radius and the aponeurosis of the bicep brachii
Action: Flexes the forearm at the elbow joint, supinates the forearm at the radioulnar joint and flexes the arm at the glenohumeral joint
Biceps Brachii
Long head Origin: Infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Lateral head Origin: Posterior surface of the proximal 1/3 of the humerus
Medial head Origin: Posterior surface of distal 2/3 of the humerus
Triceps Brachii
Triceps Brachii has the following actions, but where does it insert?
All heads actions: Extends the forearm at the elbow joint
Long head actions: Extends the arm at the glenohumeral joint
Insertion is the Olecranon process of the ulna
