What is a biers block used for?

A
  • Surgical procedures or fracture manipulation in extremities
  • Pressure cuff is applied (>100SBP) to act as tourniquet and restrict blood flow
  • local anesthetic injected intravenously
  • Tourniquet is then depressurized to restore circulation
