intra oral radiogrpahic anatomy e lec pictures Flashcards
what is this image pointing to
the inter maxillary suture
what is this pointing to
the anterior nasal spine
radioopaque V shaped line which lies above the anterior apices
what is the issue with this image
that the soft tissues have super imposed on the ant superior bone portion of the radiograph
what si the nasal end of the incisive foramina seen as on a radiograph
two ovoid structures that lie either side of the anterior nasal spine
what is the nasal end of the incisive foramina seen as on a radiograph
it is seen as a concavity radioluscent structure that lies above the nasal septum
what can be the issue with the oral end of the incisive canal on a radioluscency
it can be projected over the apex of the central incisors and can resemble an inflammatory cyst but usually this is much bigger
what are the anterior parts of the nasal cavity known as
the pyriform fossa
what is this thick band of radioopacity seen
the interior nasal conchae
what can be the issue with the canine fossa
as there is less bone as we move posteriorly- and therfore less tissue we can see a radiolucency
what is this image pointing at
poorly defined canine fossA
what can be the issue with the antrum
it can be mistaken as a radiolucency of the maxillary antrum
what is the maxillary antrum
the maxillary sinus
what is the Y shape of ennis
it is an upside down Y where the medial side of the Y is the body of the antrum as well as one side fo the Y being the floor of the antrum and the other side being the floor of the nose
what is the floor of the nose seen like
a radioopaque flat horizontal line on an occlusal or post PA
WHAT is the zygomatic buttress
it is an radiodensity due to the zygoma meeting the maxilla
what is the structure outlined
the hamulus- a part of the medial pterygoid plate
