What are the duties of the Officer of the Day within the interior guard chain of command?

A
  • Is the officer or SNCO who supervises the main guard.
  • The Officer of the Day is charged with the execution of all orders of the Commanding Officer that concern the security of the area within the assigned jurisdiction.
  • The Officer of the Day will be junior to the Field Officer if the Day.

How does a member of the interior guard challenge personnel?

A
  • If a sentry observes a person approaching their post during the time for challenging, the sentry takes cover and calls “HALT, who goes there?”
  • Normally upon receiving an answer to the challenge, the sentry will command; “Advance, to be recognized.”
