What is Cover?
A
Protection from the fire of hostile weapons

What is Concealment?
A
Protection from the observation, either air or ground, but does not protect from fire.

What are types of Cover?
A
Natural: -Reverse Slopes -Ravines and hallows -Large Rock formations -Depression in the earth (micro-terrain) -Large Trees Artificial: -Fighting Position -Trenches -Walls

What are general considerations with regards to cover?
A
- Select routes that provide the best possible cover.
- Avoid open areas (danger areas) if at all possible. When you must cross them, move quickly.
- When moving under fire, choose the next available piece of cover before you move
- When selecting a defensive positions, make the best possible use of pre-existing cover.
- Cover that protects you from one type of fire may not be effective against another type of fire.

What are types of Concealment?
A
Natural:
- Darkness
- Weather
- Terrain
- Vegetation
Artificial:
-Camouflage clothing, netting, painted equipment, and camo techniques.

What is Camouflage?
A
Anything you use to keep yourself, your equipment, and your position from looking like what it actually is.

What is the purpose of Camouflage?
A
Prevent direct observation and recognition.

What are the principles of camouflage?
A
- Study the terrain and vegetation in your area of operation.
- Camouflage is continuous, update and check in new terrain the goal is always to blend into surroundings.
- Remove or cover all shiny objects.
- Any objects that reflect light and cannot be removed should be camouflaged.
- Objects are identified by their outline, shadow, texture, and color.
