Interface Configurations - CompTIA Network+ N10-009 - 2.2 Flashcards
What are two important Ethernet settings to consider then plugging in a network cable
speed and duplex
What is speed on a network interface
how fast a connection is going to run
what is Ethernet
a protocol that defines how data is transferred
When the cat of cable goes up what else goes up
Speed
Link Aggregation or Port Bonding
Multiple interfaces act like one interface. Could connect two cables or more between switches to enable it.
LACP
Link Aggregation Control Protocol
IEEE 802.3ad
Standard based method to control the bunding of several physical network links together to form a logical channel.
MTU
Maximum Transmission Unit.
How does MTU work
Largest a IP packet can be to transmit but not fragment.
In order to send communication in most effectivt way possible you need to be able to set the MTU for packets are fragmented.
Fragmentation tends to slow down communications and if we lose a fragment we need to resend entire packet.
Difficult to know the MTU all the way through the path
espeically when ICMP is flitered
how large can Jumbo Frames be
Up to 9216 bytes
what is the Maximum size of MTUs
1500 Bytes
How big are ethernet frames
1500 Bytes
Mbps
megabits per second.
