Etiology:
A
- Atherosclerotic peripheral artery disease and peripheral neuropathy
- Caused by loss of loss of protective sensation, loss of muscle coordination, mechanical trauma, autonomic dysfunction

Clinical Features: Location
A
- Occurs where arterial ulcers typically appear
- Occurs where peripheral neuropathy typically occurs
(Plantar aspect of the foot)

Clinical Features: Pain
A
- Typically not painful
- Sensory loss usually present

Clinical Features: Pulses
A
- May be present or diminished

Clinical Features: Reflexes

- Absent ankle jerks with neuropathy

- More common
- Sepsis and or gangrene may develop
