Basal Cell Carcinoma
Overview: This type of skin cancer that usually develops on the face or neck area
Causes: long term exposure to UV radiation (sunlight)
Symptoms: Growth or a sore that won’t heal that looks like a pearly white, skin-colored or pink bump
Treatment: surgery
Melonoma
Overview: A type of skin cancer that starts when melanocytes, which is the cell that produces melanin, starts to grow out of control. Can be caused by genetics or overexposure to the sun.
Symptoms: Large mole looking spot, skin grown, pigment chance
Treatment: surgery and chemo
Eczema
Overview: skin condition where becomes itchy, bumpy and red. Caused by weak immune system, genetics, environmental causes or stress levels
Treatment: creams and ointments, sterious, topical creams
Acne
Overview: acne is a skin condition that happens when hair follicles are clogged up by dead skin cells
Treatment: accutane, medication, cream
Symptoms: inflamed blackheads, puss filled pimples, tender bumps, redness of face
First Degree Burns
Overview: involve top layer of skin
Symptoms: red, painful and peeling skin
Treatment: cool the burn and cover with bandage
Second Degree Burns
Overview: involve the outer layer of the skin, often looks wet or moist, caused by hot water, open flames, hot objects, sun, chemicals are electricity
Symptoms: blisters, deep redness, burns areas appear wet and shiny
Treatment: immerse in cool water for 10-15 minutes
Third Degree Burns
Overview: destroy epidermis and dermis. May damage bones, muscles and tendons
Symptoms: waxy, white color, charred
Treatment: early cleaning and debriding, IV fluids containing electrolytes
Fourth Degree Burns
Overview: Fourth degree burns go through both layers of the skin, underlying tissue and deeper tissue
Symptoms: charred looking appearance, white in color, exposed bone and muscle tissue
Treatment: first aid, removing the hand
Stretch Marks
Overview: a type of scar that develops when the skin stretches or shrinks quickly and the skin begins to heal
Symptoms: streak lines that are red, white or blue
Treatment: there is no treatment
Calluses
Overview: calluses and corns are thick, hardened laters of skin that develop to protect the skin from fristion or pressure
Symptoms: avoid repettetive actions
Treatment: creams
