- Time - Note the time

- Select - Select NAV1 or NAV2 depending on approach
- Tune - Tune the NAVAID frequency
- Identify - Indentify the morse code frequency
- Needles - Ensure in VOR or ADF mode
- Twist - Select the proper course in the HSI/CDI
- Select - Ensure that the proper NAV source is selected
Used for cockpit set-up for an approach, switching NAVAIDs, and departing from an airfield

- NAVAIDs - Tune and indentify NAVAIDs for the approach
- Timing - Compute the groundspeed using current winds
