It is when employees put the policy into action.

It ensures that settings have the number of staff they need, correct supervision, training and the environment is safe.

What do individual organisations do with legislation?
They will look at the legislation and consider how it directly applies to them.
They will then write policies and procedures linked to the legislation allowing their staff to apply them in the setting.
How does legislation influence staff?
Safe staffing levels.
Effective supervision, instructions and training given.
Suitable skill levels, awareness and knowledge.
Promote well being and safe secure work environments.
Give roles to implement changes to health, safety and security changes.
How does legislation influence premises?
Legislation has a direct impact on how health, social and childcare premises are maintained.
Make sure they are kept clean and in good condition and secure.
Hand washing facilities are available.
Escape routes and exits are provided.
How does legislation influence working practices?
Encourages good personal hygiene to reduce the spread of infection.
Wash hands, wear clean clothes and wear protective equipment.
Wear gloves and aprons when handling hazardous waste.
Recording and storing information correctly and securely.
How does legislation influence staff to client ratio?
They must provide sufficient numbers of suitably qualified/experienced staff to meet the needs of the people using the services at all times.
