What is chronic inflammation
A
Lasts 2 weeks or longer, usually due to inability to heal
Pus formation, suppuration, incomplete healing
- Other causes: high lipids and wax content of microorganism, ability to
survive inside macrophage, toxins, chemicals - Characteristics: formation of granuloma, epithelioid cell, or giant cell;
dense infiltration of lymphocytes and macrophages
