what were the Carlsbadd decrees?
Issued by Klemens von Metternich of Austria, basically set up a system where teachers at universities were monitored at universities and reprimanded for putting liberalism forward, Metternich wanted to limit the expanse of liberalism
Who was Klemens von Metternich?
Represented Austria in the Congress of Vienna, he optimized conservative reactions to liberalism, was opposed to the ideas of liberal reforms because he feared that the many ethnic minorities of the Austrian Empire would hear of nationalistic liberal ideas and revolt

what were Austria’s problems with nationalism
Austrian empire was comprised of many different ethnic groups, these groups created the potential of the formation of different states, Klemens von Metternich feared that liberal views of nationalism would plant in Austria and he would loose his empire, main motive for carlsbad decrees

Socialist thinker who set up national workshops for the unemployed in France
