the relatively stable aspects of individuals which distinguish them from others, making them unique but at the same time permit a comparison between individuals.

What is the attribution theory?
it looks at whether an athlete puts their successes for failures down to luck, skill the circumstances on the day or other factors
What do task involved individuals focus on?
the mastery of the task, learning the skills, exerting effort and self improvement
What are the main components of social cognitive theory?
competencies and skills, beliefs and expectancies, behavioral standards and goals,
What is self esteem?
how someone they are valued overall
What is self efficacy?
how they feel they can perform in a situation
what are the four components of self efficacy?
performance accomplishments, persuasion, vicarious experiences, physiological states
how does personality effect athletes?
there is no superior personality to be successful in a sport and there is no real way to measure personality
Why does a personality need to be stable but not “fixed”?
It needs to be stable to know how one will reacts but cannot be “fixed” because one does still need to be able to adjust
How can small changes in attitude be achieved?
persuasion by someone who hold in a high regard

comes from within, done for self satisfaction

results from external rewards
