Any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that result in energy expenditure.

FITT. Frequency, intensity, time and type
Define exersice
Physical activity that is planned and structured and often improves an area of physical fitness.
Describe the link between physical activity and medical conditions
Increased activity leads to decreased coronary heart disease, decrease risk of cancers, decrease risk of type 2 diabetes and dementia and decrease risk of back and joint pain
Describe the effects of physical activity and quality of live
It improves sleep, manages stress, can act as antidepressant, improve mental health and enhance performance.
What is the UK guidelines on physical activity
150 mins of moderate activity or 75 mins of intense activity per week. Build strength and balance for older adults 2 days a week. Minimise sedimentary time
What are the statistics of men and women who are inactive
1 in 3 men and 1 in 2 women are not active enough for good health
How do you speak to patients about physical activity?
Person centred physical activity advice. A person centred convo means building a rapport and express empathy and emphasise personal responsibility. Give leaflets, goal setting, local support and find something they enjoy.
