  • Liver/genital/breast cancer
  • Liver disease
  • Undiagnosed PV bleed
  • Enzyme inducers - antiepileptics, rifampicin

A

Hormonal side effects: mood changes, headaches, GI effects, ?weight gain

May have continual bleeding*

  • Good for forgetfulness
  • Doesn’t contain oestrogen so can be used for contraindication for COCP & thromboembolic events
  • Can be inserted immediately following termination of pregnancy
