1) Start with the 3rd person plural (‘they’ form of the preterite) hablar -> hablaron OR comer -> comieron OR vivir -> vivieron
2) Drop the -RON ending to establish the verb’s imperfect subjunctive base
3) Add the common endings ( the same for AR/ER/IR)
