Imaging Flashcards
Silhouette sign
Loss of normal lung/ soft tissue due to pathology with replaces not air filled lung
- Consolidation
Air bronchogram
Bronchi visible due to air filled bronchi. Alveoli no longer contain air
- Alveolar disease or atelectasis
Kerley B lines
> 2 cm horizontal lines in lower zone periphery
- Pulm edema, lymphangitis, lymphoma, viral pneumonia,
Segmental/lobar/ lung collapse, atelectasis:
Diminished inflation due to decreased alveolar volume
Pleural effusion
Build up of fluid between tissue layers- blood, pus, water- CHR, PE, CA
Lung infiltrates/ consolidation
Continuum between ground glass and white wall consolidation
- Non specific alveolar space opacification
- Pus from pnemonia
Interstitial lung disease
Diffuse, bilateral coarse interstitial opacities with basilar predominance
Flattened hemidiaphragm
- Honeycombing
- pulm fibrosis
Simple pneumothorax
Air outside lung, inside thoracic cavity- lung markings not visible
Pulm edema/ cephalization
Bat wing pattern, cephalization of pulmonary veins
