3. Consults drug chart for prescription
4. Consults drug chart for allergies
5. Consults drug chart for anticoagulation
6. Checks vial for dose
7. Checks vial for expiry date
8. Dons gloves
9. Draws up correct volume of drug using 21G needle
10. Removes 21G needle and attaches 23G needle

11. Selects appropriate injection site (deltoid muscle or gluteus)
12. Cleans site with alcohol wipe and allows to dry
13. Introduces needle at 80–90 degree angle in quick, firm motion. for sub cut make sure to pinch an inch first.
14. Ensures needle has not entered a blood vessel by aspirating
15. Slowly injects drug
16. Immediately and appropriately disposes of needle
17. Applies gentle pressure over injection site with cotton wool
18. Indicates need to ensure patient is comfortable
19. Indicates need to sign prescription chart and write in medical records
20. Indicates need to make entry in medical records
