Ice Protection Flashcards
What does the WINDOW HEAT OVERHEAT (amber) light mean?
Overheat [62C] for the respective window
Describe the rain removal system for the forward flight deck windows?
Permanent rain repellent coating [hydrophobic coating]
Windshield wipers
What does positioning the ENG ANTI-ICE switches ON in flight do?
Allows engine bleed air to flow through the cowl anti ice valves
Adjusts stall warning logic [SMYD] for icing while the switches are on
What does the COWL ANTI-ICE (amber) light mean?
Excessive pressure in the duct leading from the cowl anti ice valve to the cowl lip
What does an amber TAI indication on the N1 display indicate?
Cowl anti-ice valve fails to move to the commanded position
What is heated by wing anti-ice?
Three inboard leading edge slats from the engine
[Outboard slat and inboard leading edge flaps not heated]
Explain WAI valves on the ground with the switch on
Both valves open if:
low thrust commanded, and
temp inside duct is low enough
Both valves close if:
either thrust lever is raised for takeoff, or
temp sensor detects an overheat
How is stall warning logic affected with WAI?
Adjusts stick shaker and minimum maneuvering speed for the remainder of the flight
PROBE HEAT provides electrical heat for which sensors?
AOA, and
TAT, and
PITOT Tubes
[Static ports are not heated]
