Hydraulics Flashcards
Where are the hydraulic system fluid reservoirs located?
Main gear wheel well area
What pressurizes the A/B hydraulic reservoirs?
Bleed air pressure
What pressurizes the standby hydraulic reservoir?
System B reservoir pressure
When does the white RF (refill) appear on the hydraulic system page?
Hydraulic quantity is below 76%, and
Aircraft is on the ground with both engines shutdown, or
After landing with flaps up during taxi-in
What does the ELEC 2 pump ON/OFF switch control?
The electric motor-driven pump for hydraulic system A
What happens when an ENG hydraulic pump switch is turned off?
A blocking valve is closed which isolates fluid flow from the system components and the pump
What is normal hydraulic system pressure? maximum pressure?
Normal pressure 3,000 PSI +/- 200 PSI, maximum system pressure is 3,500 PSI
What does the OVERHEAT (amber) light on the hydraulic panel indicate?
An overheat in the respective pump
What is the purpose of the power transfer unit (PTU)?
Hydraulic system A power is used to power system B for autoslats and leading edge devices.
Does system A or B pressure loss alone cause operation of the standby hydraulic system?
No.
Force fight monitor, OR
Loss of A or B AND FLT CTRL SW ON,
AND
Flaps Extended
AND
Airborne OR > 60kts
What could cause automatic operation of the standby hydraulic system?
PCU Force Fight Monitor (FFM), or
Loss of system A or B, and
Respective FLT CONTROL switch ON, and
Flaps extended, and
Airborne or wheel speed > 60 kts
What switches activate the standby hydraulic system for operation of the rudder and thrust reversers?
Standby Hydraulic Flight Control switches A and B to STBY RUD.
What does the STANDBY HYD LOW QUANTITY (amber) light indicate?
Standby hydraulic reservoir quantity is less than 50%.
Is standby hydraulic quantity and pressure lights always monitored?
Quantity is always monitored
Pressure is monitored when the system is being used
How is standby yaw damper activated?
Both standby hydraulic flight control switches to STBY RUD
