How/when does the FMC receive DME updating?
DME updating is defaulted to OFF and must be manually selected on the FMC NAV OPTIONS page
When the tunes frequency (no decoded name) remains visible on the PFD or ND, or shows an incorrect identifier, how do you verify the station identity?
Audio morse code
What does a flashing ALIGN light (white) on the IRS panel during preflight indicate?
When there is no present position entry, or
There is a significant difference between the entered position and the previously known position
What does the FAULT light (amber) on the IRS mode selector unit indicate?
A system fault affecting the related IRS ATT and/or NAV modes has been detected
What does the ON DC light (amber) illuminated in flight indicate?
Loss of AC power to the Associated IRS and it is now operating on DC power from the switched hot battery bus
What will happen if both ON DC lights (amber) illuminate?
Right IRS will turn off after 5 minutes
What does a single DC FAIL light (amber) illuminated in flight indicate?
Problem with the DC power supply for the associated IRS
If all other lights are extinguished, the IRS is operating normally on AC power
When is INSUFFICIENT FUEL on the CDU displayed?
Less than 2,000lbs of fuel estimated at destination
What are the indications of a left, right, or dual FMC failure?
VTK on the respective ND. For additional symptoms reference the QRH.
AT28R, BT28R, and CT28R are waypoints from what type of FMC procedure?
EOSID
IRS ground alignment at high latitude may take how long?
Up to 17 minutes
What does a GPS light (amber), illuminating during Master Caution Recall and extinguishing when the Master Caution System is reset, indicate?
A single GPS failure

Left FMC is controlling the MCDUs and the Autothrottle
How does moving the FMC source select switch to BOTH ON L or R affect LNAV and VNAV?
Both LNAV and VNAV will disengage [but can be reengaged]
What does an illuminated MCDU EXEC light indicate?
Active data has been modified but not yet executed
What signifies mandatory data inputs on the MCDU?
Empty boxes
When does LNAV engage, regardless of heading?
Within 3.0nm XTK of the course
Define Actual Navigation Performance (ANP) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP)
ANP - FMC’s estimate of the quality of its’ position, estimates the maximum position error with 95% probability
RNP - Minimum required performance for segment of flight
ANP should not exceed RNP
What assumptions are made to calculate the descent path?
Idle thrust, and
Descent winds, and
Speedbrakes retracted, and
Target descent speed maintained
When does VNAV PTH revert to VNAV SPD?
Deviate more than 200’ above the path, or
Near overspeed, or
LNAV path ends [no TO waypoint]
When will BYPASS appear between two waypoints on the legs page?
BYPASS appears when the next leg is too short to intercept and laterally capture the leg
When using the IRS transfer switch, what amber caution appears? Is there a checklist for it?
INSTR SWITCH appears in amber on the PFD
