What is a hypothesis
A statement of what the researcher believes to be true
What does an operationalised hypothesis mean
This is when the statement is clearly defined and measurable
What is a directional hypothesis
Is a hypothesis that states whether changes are greater or lesser, positive or negative
How to write a non-directional hypothesis
There will be a difference between X and Y (substitute the X and Y for your independent variable here) and the …. (insert dependent variable here)
What is a null hypothesis
A statement that predicts there will be no relationship or difference found in an investigation
What is a non-directional hypothesis
A hypothesis that states that there will be a difference/relationship between 2 conditions but not what that will be
How do you write a directional hypothesis
Participants who X (IV) DV operationalized and directional word than those who Y(IV)
E.g participants who get 8 hours of sleep will complete the puzzle quicker than those who get 4 hours of sleep
