What is white coat hypertension
- Very high blood pressure when attending their doctor due to stress but usually have normal pressures otherwise
What is the effect of alcohol on blood pressure
- Small amounts reduce blood pressure
- Large amounts of alcohol can increase blood pressure
What is the correlation with birth weight and blood pressure in adulthood
Low birth weight is associated with higher likelihood of developing hypertension
What is the antihypertensive treatment in >55 year olds or black people
- Calcium channel blocker first line
- Thiazide diuretic added such as indapamide
- Add ACEi or ARBS
- Add beta blocker such as bisoprolol

- ACEi or ARBS
- Add thiazide diuretic such as indapamide
- Add CCB on such as amolodpine
