What is the Regina Vasorum made of?
A
Almost the entire surface of the vase’s egg shaped body is covered with black lacquer. The edge of of the reverted rim is decorated with a gilded band of ova.

How was it decorated?
A
The body is decorated with vertical ribs, resembling finishing of metal vessels.
The narrow band on the body shows griffins, lions and panthers, all in relief.
Relief composition on the shoulder showing the deities mostly of the Eleusinian circle.
