Hybrid Project Flashcards

Q

What are the PM and POs Roles in hybrid project for Scope?

A

PM:: Manages theoverall project scopeand alignment to the project baseline. The PM is responsible for assessing the impact of changes on scope, schedule, and budget. For any new or expanded scope items, the PM evaluates feasibility and impact, especially if they affect the baseline.

PO: Manages theproduct backlogin agile components, ensuring that tasks are prioritized based on product value, user needs, and stakeholder feedback. The PO has the final say on what goes into the backlog and the order of work items.

Q

What are the PM and POs Roles in hybrid project for Change and Risk Management?

A

Product Owner: Focuses on product-related changes based on evolving requirements, market conditions, or user feedback, typically within the agile scope. The PO can adapt backlog items but generally isn’t responsible for assessing broader project risk.

Project Manager: Oversees thechange management processand evaluates risks that could affect the project as a whole.
* The PM considers any proposed changes’ impact on the timeline, budget, quality, and compliance.
* The PM decides whether to escalate changes through formal change control processes if they go beyond the agile backlog.

Q

What are the PM and POs Roles in hybrid project for Change and Risk Management?

A

Product Owner: Works closely with stakeholders (users, clients, business teams)** to capture requirements** and **ensure the product delivers value. **
* The PO gathers and prioritizes feedback to refine the product features and align them with stakeholder expectations.

Project Manager: Manages the broaderstakeholder engagementstrategy, keeping everyone informed about** project progress, risks, and milestones**.
* The PM ensures alignment between project goals and stakeholder expectations, especially for aspects outside of immediate product functionality.

What are the PM and POs Roles in hybrid project for Time Management and Scheduling?

A

Product Owner: **Prioritizes work items within the backlog **and decides what goes into each sprint based on value.
* The PO may influence the sequence of work items but doesn’t typically set the project schedule.

Project Manager: Develops and manages theoverall project scheduleand timeline, ensuring that work progresses according to plan.
* The PM considers dependencies between agile and non-agile workstreams and adjusts as necessary to meet deadlines.

What are the PM and POs Roles in hybrid project for Quality Deliverables?

A

Product Owner: Defines theacceptance criteriafor each backlog item to ensure quality meets stakeholder expectations.
* The PO is involved in validating deliverables but is not directly responsible for ensuring adherence to overall quality standards.

Q

When in an agile environment(or hybrid) can you use a WBS?

A

WBS can be used when we’re** planning our next release** and want to **plan it’s duration **
* So we could decompose the product roadmap down w/ the wbs.
* Planning Release works in levels: Level 1- Release 1,2,3> Level 2- Release 1(Iteration 1, 2,3)> Level 3 - Iteration 1(Feature 1,2,3)
* The WBS helps PM would breakdown the PBL items into smaller more manageable tasks. This breakdown alows for more detailed view of the work(Sprints/Features hiearchy) invovled, which is essential for estimating the effort and duration of the next release.
* Works for higher level estimation like release planning, rather than just sprints on their own doesn’t work.
* Normally agile relies on story points and velocity for sprint planning, but a wbs can help estimate duration and resource needs when planning at a higher level, like for an entire release.
