He created reforms in Hungary such as allowing for free voting and speech and also allowed for the hungarian goverment to contain non communist members

A couple days after (4th november)Soviet troops rolled into the city and killed any hungarians who were trying to fight back.They regained control of hungary
What did the west do during the hungarian uprising
Even though Hungary begged them for support they were sympathetic and criticised the soviets however offered no millitary support
What were the consequences of the Hungarian Uprising
The USA looked weak as they had failed to keep their truman doctrine promise of protecting any country that was to stand up to communism.
Members of the warsaw pact had now been warned about what was to happen if you rebelled.Thus making Khrushchev’s position stronger

De stalinisation speeches from Khrushchev made Hungarians hopeful for a more liberal USSR and in turn a more liberal Hungary
Rakoski was not popular at all and the people wanted him out
