The athletic footwear company Nike became a transnational company in 1975, its manufacturing areas expanded to all around the world including Vietnam. The main headquarters or the company was set up in Oregon - USA - North America. One large manufacturing space is located in Vietnam - South-East Asia

Causes: ———————–

Nike had many reasons for becoming a transnational company, its main being reduced manufacturing costs, with less costs there is higher profit for the company. Here are some reasons why moving manufacturing to Vietnam leads to reduced manufacturing costs:
* Vietnam is a L.E.D.C - meaning people are less wealthy and will accept jobs for lower income
* Vietnam is a L.E.D.C - meaning there is a high percentage of people in the primary sector, leading to an abundance in labour supply
* More resources in Vietnam, by moving there it’s easier to extract and refine
* Subsidies from governments to move there
Another important reason to why Nike became a transnational company is that there was an expanding market as countries developed economically.

Benifits: ————————–

Vietnam as a country has benefited in multiple ways as well, such as:
More people have jobs, leads to a reduction in poverty
More people have jobs, leads to economic growth
Knowledge and technology brought in by M.E.D.C
There are several advantages to the company Nike because of this action, some of them are:
Reduced manufacturing costs due to cheaper prices - leads to more profit
Increased demand because of expanded market - leads to higher revenue
Access to a larger talent pool - higher output and quality

The USA has also benefited from this in some ways such as:
Lower prices - due to price competition
