HTN Meds Flashcards
nitrate mechanism
promote venous relaxation. dephosphoralates (myosin needs a P to contract)
CA2 blocker mech
block MLCK activation, myosin can’t get phosphorylated. also stop calcium from reaching SA node (HR)
Beta blocker MOA
block G protein activation, Ca channels can’t open
Alpha 2 agonist MOA
decrease tone, dilate artery
alpha 1 antagonist MOA
block post synapse, no NE effect
BP=
Co*svr
Co breaks down into
SV and HR
SV breaks Dorn into
preload and contractibility
complications of diuretics
sexual dysfunction in men, new onset DM, worsening lipids, hypokalemia, gout
complications of renin angiotensin blokage
cough, hypotension, hyperkalemia, deterioration in kidney function, angioedema, NO FOR PREGO
first line drug
thiazide
hypertensive nephrosclerosis
symmetrical decreased kidney size, sub capsular fine granularity, think kidney cortex, normal calyces
nephropathy
end organ damage… proteinuria disease highest risk of CVa
african americans
diuretics and calcium increased effect, also beta blocker and Acei, also more sensitive to Na restriction
