Test for protein in the urine by estimation of the
albumin: creatinine ratio.
• Measure glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C), electrolytes,
creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate, total
cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol

retinopathy
• Arrange for a 12-lead electrocardiograph to be
performed.
• Follow up should be initially every 1-4 weeks till BP is
