A

the suspension of Habeas Corpus in March 1817 was
limited to only 10 months, during which time only 44 people were arrested and 37 detained on suspicion of treason. This stopped the most influential/extreme radicals + made example of them to quell the revolution.

A
  • Members in the government were portrayed as insensitive and out of touch with the reality of the situation across England and Wales.
  • the Game Laws set out extremely harsh punishments for poaching and many juries were reluctant to convict when the penalty was so severe for a minor offence.
  • was very unpopular and had a negative impact on the working classes.
