What is the fire safety act 2021?

A

Bill first introduced in March 2020 and amends the regulatory reform order 2005

Clarify who is responsible for managing and reducing fire risks in different parts of multi-occupied residential buildings, to prevent future tragedies occurring.

  • The Act provides clarification who is accountable for reducing the risk of fires.
  • The Act also adds that the external walls of a building as well as the fire doors to individual flats to be included to fire risk assessment
  • It is hoped that these two will allow the fire service to take greater enforcement action
