Offset join in a hold?
- What HDG to turn into?
- Which way to turn?
- No need to compensate track for Wind, but compensate time (0.5 sec per knot)
- Re intercept using curve of pursuit
Direct entry into a hold?
- Within 40* of hold axis - cross the beacon and turn into the hold
- >40* coming from inside of hold - roll @ 90* to the hold axis, Fly straight 15s then turn
- >40* coming from outside of the hold - cross beacon - straight for 15s. then turn into the hold.
Flying the hold - what are your actions as you approach the beacon for the first time?
- Set HDG bug to OUTBD HDG
- Time - start stopwatch and check running
- Turn outbound
- Talk = “C/S, entering hold/ Beacon ID/ Altitude”
60* to go in a turn - what’s the remaining bearing to go (nil wind)?

30* to go in a turn - what’s the remaining bearing to go (nil wind)?

60* to - bearing is in excess of expected. What does it mean?
You are wide - undershoot
Roll W/L - when 10* to go - start turn again
If only small errror - pass 60* to go, W/L on 30* to go - smaller intercept
Wind from Holding side - how do you fly?
- 3*drift ** on OUTBD
- Timing adjustment on Outbd - 1sec/knot
- Gate wider than 1*SD
- 60* to go bigger than 0.5*SD
