Hodgkin Lymphoma Flashcards
Markers in Hodgkin
CD15 and CD30 (15 x 2 = 30, two eyes from RS cell)
NOT CD20
CD20 is present in non-Hodgkin lymphomas
Pathology of Reed-Sternberg cells
secrete a bunch of cytokines
- makes B-Sx
- attracts other inflammatory cells –> lymphadenopathy
- fibrosis
Which kidney disease is associated with Hodgkin lymphoma
minimal change disease
because RS cells secrete a bunch of cytokines
cytokines lead to effacement of foot processes causing nephrotic syndrome
Nodular sclerosis subtype of Hodgkin
histology
node divided by fibrotic bands
RS cells present in lake-like spaces
“lacunar cells”
Classic CBC finding of Hodgkin disease
eosinophilia
especially in mixed-cell type
RS cells secrete IL-5 –> eosinophils
Special things to remember about other subtypes of Hodgkin lymphoma
lymphocyte-rich
mixed cellularity
lymphocyte depleted
lymphocyte-rich: best prognosis
mixed cellularity: eosinophilia via IL-5 from RS cells
lymphocyte-depleted: worst prognosis, HIV and elderly association
