Who was Jesus and what did he do?
Jesus was a religious teacher who preached a new version of the Hebrew religion.
what was the main point of Jesus?
‘what matters is inner feelings and moral attitude’, not external sacrifice.
Who does Jesus claim to be and what can he offer to people who believe in him?
Jesus claims to be the “Son of God” and in a way, himself divine. People who believe in him can attain a ‘happy’ everlasting life after death.
why was Jesus arrested and executed by roman authorities?
because they thought he was a troublemaker trying to get the Jews to rebel against the empire.
what happened after Jesus’s death
his message was expanded and made popular by a follower, a guy named Paul of Tarsus (aka St-Paul). He was a Roman citizen.
what did St-Paul do?
Paul made Christianity into a mass movement all over the Roman empire (not just the Jewish world).
by what time was Christianity was the religion of around 10% of the empire, very popular with women and slaves.
