Greco-Bulgarian case study

A
  • 19 Oct 1925: 2 Greek soldiers killed at Greco-Bulgarian border.
  • A report to the Greek government exaggerated the deaths as a Bulgarian attack on Greece; Greece declares war on Bulgaria.
  • Bulgarian Foreign Minister contacts the president of the League’s council, who telegrams both sides to stop all acts of war and return within their borders.
  • A commission is sent by the League to investigate the matter, and they find that Greek soldiers have stolen Bulgarian cattle and crop. Greek paid a compensation of 30 million Bulgarian levas.
