16
Q

Hyaline Cartilage:

A

Most of the nose, Most abundant,

  • Glassy appearance
  • Smooth + lacunae = hyaline cartilage
17
Q

Fibrocartilage:

A

Meniscus of knee

  • sparse linear lucunae
  • stains a bluish color.
18
Q

Elastic cartilage

A

external ear

  • dense lucunae
  • Lucunae + rough = elastic cartilage
19
Q

Muscle tissues

A

Smooth, skeletal, cardiac

20
Q

smooth muscle:

A

Wall of stomach,
*no striations- “spindle like”

Involuntary movements (dialating eyes, blood vessels) one central nucleus

21
Q

Skeletal muscle:

A

attaches to bone

  • long and unbranched
  • multiple nuclei with straitions

Voluntary movement, cells as long as the muscle
Nuclei in cell periphery

22
Q

Cardiac muscle

A

Heart wall

  • short and branched(splits)
  • *striations and intercalated discs (darker lines)

Shorter fibers than skeletal.
One or two central nuclei

23
Q

Nervous Tissue:

A

Nervous Tissue: located in brain and spinal cord.
(neuron, soma, axon, dendrites) controls communication between cells.

Neurons(in through dendrites, out through axon) supporting glial cells

24
Q

Body membranes:

A

Line major cavities of internal (visceral) and external(parietal) surfaces.

25
Q

Internal membranes:

A

Mucous- lines passageways that open to external environment ex: digestive, respiratory, urinary, reproductive

Serous- simple squamous epithelium produces thin watery fluid to lubricate ex: pericardium, peritoneum, pleura

Others-largest membranes is the cutaneous membrane (skin) synovial membranes line skeletal joints,
