Histology Flashcards
Development of blood vessels
Splanchnic mesoderm makes up the primordial vessels that later form intercellular vacuoles that eventually fuse to form the lumen of the vessel
What do capillaries lack?
Elastic tissue, smooth muscle, and fibrous tissue
Three types of capillaries
Continuous
Fenestrated
Sinusoidal
Continuous capillaries occur in
Muscle, lungs, nervous system
Fenestrated capillaries occur in
Endocrine glands, intestines, kidneys
Sinusoidal capillaries occur in
Liver, spleen, bone marrow, aortic and carotid bodies, endocrine glands
Fenestrae are
Pores through endothelium that usually have diaphragms between them
Vasa vasorum
Blood and lymphatic vessels
Nervi vasorum
Fine nerves that supply nerves
Regulation of blood flow through capillaries
Pre capillary spinsters of arterioles control flow into capillary bed proper
Venules are formed
When several capillaries meet
Cardiac muscle
Striated, branched, uninucleated fibers
Occurs in walls of the heart
Involutary.
