Q

What is choice feminism?

A

A woman could make whatever choice (and as long as she chose it, it was feminism)

Ex. stay single, have 10 kids, leave work etc

So people think they are choosing their gendered lives

Q

How is choice feminism problematic?

A

Like the right to work and the right to vote, women have the right to have a flourishing life

This includes (but is not only) a family
- Women don’t need to choose only having a family, they are multifaceted.

Q

How can women combat this?

A
  1. Go into college expecting to support yourself / ur family with ur degree
  2. Look for on the job / or further education
  3. Avoid taking on more of your fair share of the second shift (don’t take up all the housework - might push u to stay home)
  4. Don’t quit job (because nannies are expensive) your work matters, and by having both couples work -overall more money
  5. Have one child (two children tends to be where women stay home)
