HIP Conditions/Treatment Hamstring Strain Flashcards
Pain occurs at the ischial tuberosity, the muscle belly or distal musculo-tendinous junction
Hamstring Strain
Mechanism of Hamstring Strain involves
decelerating, eccentric phase of running
What is the TCM Dx?
History of SP or LV Blood def, Q/B stag of the BL and LV meridian
Prognosis: What takes less effort, more effort to treat?
Mid belly strains easier, more challenging origin or insertion/tendon attachments
Acute Strain treatment
gentle Tui Na (reduces edema and scar issue malformation) HERBS!!! Internal & External
Chronic: Points chosen for injury at medial hamstring muscle-tendinous junction
LV8, LV9
Chronic: Points chosen of injury at the bicep femois muscle-tendinous junction
BL38, BL39, Ah Shi in the muscle belly (Insertion at lateral epicondyle, head of fibula)
Injury at its origin at the ischial tuberosity, treatment options
- Tui Na - transversely against muscle fibers at site of injury to break up scar tissue adhesions
- Sliding cups over site of adhesion
- Ah Shi at site of strain
- BL58
- Gentle Stretching
