Who was the Earl of Suffolk?
The Earl of Suffolk was Edmund de la Pole. John De la Pole’s brother.
When was the White Rose Rebellion?
1499-1506.
What were the Earl of Suffolk’s motivations?
His Brother, John, had been killed in the Battle of Stoke against Henry.
Edmund had suffered financial and social reprucussions due to John’s treason.
Henry refused to raise Suffolk to dukedom despite his claim.
Suffolk was forced to pay £5,000 for the attainders against his brother.
Who supported the Earl of Suffolk?
Maximillian of Burgundy.
What were the events of the Suffolk plot?
- Killed a man in 1499 and was humiliatingly summoned before a normal court and not a court of peers.
- He fled to Burgundy the night before his trial.
- Henry persued him and brought him back to England.
- Suffolk flees again in 1501 with his brother Richard.

How did Henry respond to the threat of the Earl of Suffolk?
He arrested all suspected confedorates : William de la Pole and Sir William Courtenay.

How did Henry Vii finally capture the Earl of Suffolk?
In 1506 Philip of Burgundy shipwrecks off the coast of England. Henry takes this opportunity to impose the Treaty of Windsor upon him, in which Philip agrees to hand over Suffolk.
What were the consequences of the Suffolk threat?
The Earl of Suffolk cost Henry a lot of money and internationally humiliated him.
Suffolk was imprisoned in the Tower of London and during Henry viii’s reign he was executed (1513).
