Why were the Cornish furious with the tax?

A

Cornwall is in the south and the cornish felt that they shouldn’t have to pay for a war which would have no effect on them. Furthermore, there was already tension in Cornwall - complaints about high taxes and high cost of living.

A
  1. Rebels set out from Bodmin in May of 1497.
  2. They march east and gain their leader, the disgraced Lord Audley.
  3. By June 16th the rebels reach the outskirts of London and camp on Blackheath.
