Hemostasis Flashcards
1
Q
what are the 4 stages of hemostasis?
A
- vascular spasm/vasoconstriction
- platelet plug formation/primary hemostasis
- blood coagulation/secondary hemostasis
- dissolution of the fibrin clot / tertiary hemostasis
2
Q
what are the functions of Von Wilebrand factor?
A
bridge between GPIb and the collagen fibers to help with platelet plug formation
binds to factor VIII - carriers it and stabilizes it and prevents its degradation
3
Q
what do aggregation of platelets need?
A
ADP stimulation
4
Q
which pathway is thrombin formed?
A
both intrinsic and extrinsic
