Goiter
enlarged thyroid gland
Hyperthyroidism
increased metabolism weight loss, hair loss, warm skin, thyroid enlargement, symptoms are nervousness, fatigue, weakness, palpitations, excessive sweating
Hypothyroidism
decreased metabolism cold intolerance, weight gain, muscle aches, thin brittle nails, dry pale skin
Preauricular Lymph Node
in front of ear
Postauricular Lymph Node
behind the ear
Occipital Lymph Node
at base of skull
Submental lymph node
under chin
Submandibular Lymph Node
under mandibular bone
Tonsillar Lymph Node
back under TMJ, inflamed when we have a cold
Anterior Cervical Chain
from top of neck to bottom of neck in front

Buffalo Hump
fat accumulation over cervical spine
Myopia
nearsightedness
Hyperopia
far sightedness
Strabismus
constant misalignment of the eyes
Esotropia
inward turning of eye
Exotropia
outward turning of eye
Ptosis
dropping of the lid
Boggy Pale Turbinate
inner mucosa is swollen but not red –> usually indicated allergies
Otitis Media
red, bulging eardrum and diminished or absent light reflex
Tonsil Grade 4
tonsils are touching eachother
Tonsil Grade 3
tonsils are touching uvula
Tonsils Grade 2
Tonsils are a little enlarged

Weber Test
place tuning fork on top of head
Rinne Test
place tuning fork on mastoid bone then at opening of ear canal
Glaucoma
can lead to blindness, happens gradually; peripheral vision loss
Cataracts
hazy film on eye lens
Presbycusis
term for loosing hearing as we age, we lose high pitch to low pitch, so we shouldn’t talk to our patients in a high pitch
Adenopathy
large or swollen lymph nodes
Dysphagia
difficulty swallowing
Nystagmus
shaking movement of the eyes
Exophyhalmos
protruding eyes
Macular Degenration
central vision loss, gradual onset
