Heart Flashcards
describe the pulmonary circuit of the heart
It is the circuit that travels to and from the lungs
describe the systemic circuit of the heart
It is the circuit that travels to and from the body
what does it mean to osculate the heart?
listen to it with a stethoscope
Describe the layers of the hear pericardium from outside in.
Parietal pericardium, serous fluid (pericardial fluid, visceral pericardium
What is the parietal pericardium made of and what is its function?
Dense irregular connection tissue that anchors the heard and prevents overstitching
What is the visceral pericardium made of
simple squamous endothelium
What is the mediastinum
The membranous space between the lungs the holds the hear
Where are the base and the apex of the heart respectively?
The base is the top. The apex is at the bottom
What is the function of the intercalated discs?
ensure that all cells are electrical coupled, the remote autosyncrhocity. Also mechanically holds heart together.
What is the epicardium of the heart wall?
it is the visceral option of the heart wall
What is the Myocardium?
The muscle layer of the heart wall, and the fibrous skeleton (made of dense collagen and elastic fibers)
What is the Endocardium and what is it’s function?
The endocardium is simple squamous endothelium. Ensures inside of the wall is smooth to facilitate good flow in the heart chamber
What is the Q wave in and ECG?
Depolarization of the ventricular septum
In an ECG what does the P wave represent?
Atrial depolarization
In a normal hear how long should the time be between for the P-R segment?
200ms
