- ask the patient if they can hear the vibration better in front of their ear or when the tuning fork is placed on the mastoid process
- positive (normal) when air conduction > bone conduction

A
- ask the patient if they can hear the vibration better in front of their ear or when the tuning fork is placed on the mastoid process
- negative (abnormal) when bone conduction > air conduction -> conductive hearing loss

A
- place the tuning fork in the middle of the patient’s forehead and ask if they can hear the vibration equally in both ears or better in one
- positive heard better in one ear
