Clear vs slurred
Good intonation vs ‘flat’ intonation

Appropriate vs inappropriate
Rinne test
compares air conduction with bones conduction
Weber test
compares hearing in left and right ears
Bronchial breath sounds (normal)
loud, high-pitched sounds heard over the trachea
Bronchovesicular (normal)
blowing sounds heard over mainstream bronchi
Vesicular (normal)
soft, breezy, low-pitched sounds heard over lung periphery
Crackles (abnormal)
Coarse - loud, bubbly sounds heard at beginning of inspiration
Fine - intermittent crackling sound heard at end of inspiration
Wheezes (abnormal)
high-pitched, continuous musical sound heard during inspiration or expiration
Rhonchi (abnormal)
loud, low-pitched rumbling sounds heard during inspiration or expiration
Kussmaul Respirations
Rapid, deep blowing respirations. May be 60 bpm
