Part of the neurocranium forming the skull base (removal of the skull cap)

Region can become congested quickly e.g., pathological changes, strangulation, asphyxiation

Why is the neck organised into facial compartments?
A
Easier for movements of one plane over another during movements like swallowing and breathing etc. useful for surgeons to use these planes for bloodless dissections.
