Possible Findings during thyroid exam
- Fatigue
- Cold intolerance
- Weight gain
- Depression/Lethargic
- Hair loss
- Dry, Coarse, Brittle hair/skin/nails
- Goiter possible
- Cold hands, Cold feet

Decreased DTR’s, Pulse and B/P

- Constipation

- Heavy/frequent menstrual cycles

HYPERTHYROID
Increased Pulse, DTR’s and B/P

Goiter possible, Tremors, and Exophthalmos

Eyelid lags behind globe movement (Lid lag)
on downward gaze,
Increase BM, and light menstrual changes
hyperthyroid
- Basal metabolic rate -
- Place thermometer on bed stand.
- On waking place thermometer in axilla
BARNES TEST
Evaluate LYMPHADENOPATHY for
Tenderness, Mobility, Texture, Location
produces more of a negative feedback than T3 on TSH.
Reverse T3 (rT3)
