What is the definition of a Haz-mat?
Something with the ability to cause harm to humans, animals or the environment
What is a Level 1 hazmat?
Single pump to deal with limited risk to our crews.
e.g. small spills of fuel/oil (up to 100litres)
call to natural gas leak, carbon monoxide detector
mercury spill
What is Level 2 hazmat
Full hazmat attendance, 2 pumps, FRU, HMEPO
What is level 3 hazmat?
Full wet decon or safe undressing procedure required
What is level 4 hazmat?
incidents attracting special attendances, not necessarily large attendances
If crews have been committed prior to arrival of HMEPO what should crews do?
Stay under air until advice can be sought
What level should an incident be if persons are involved ?
Level 2
What does the term ‘Toxic’ mean
Substance that can cause death or illness
