SITE MANAGEMENT:
FIRST ARRIVING UNIT RESPONDS TO THE SCENE, WHILE ALL OTHER UNITS ARE ORDERED TO STAGE AT A SAFE LOCATION CLOSE TO, BUT AWAY FROM THE SCENE, FROM WHERE THEY CAN DEPLOY IN A SAFE AND TIMELY MANNER. (OLD LEVEL 1 STAGING)
INITIAL RESPONSE OPERATIONS
AS AN INCIDENT GROWS OR ESCALATES, THE IC DESIGNATES A FIXED LOCATION, WHERE RESOURCES RESPONDING BEYOND THE INITIAL RESPONSE CAN BE PLACED UNTIL GIVEN TACTICAL ASSIGNMENT. USUALLY DEPLOYED DURING LARGE, COMPLEX, LENGTHY HAZMAT OPERATIONS.
SUSTAINED RESPONSE OPERATIONS-
DESIGNATED CROWD CONTROL LINE SURROUNDING THE HAZARD CONTROL ZONE. LAW ENFORCEMENT MAY REFER TO THIS AS THE “OUTSIDE PERIMETER”
ISOLATION PERIMITER
DESIGNATION AREAS AT A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT BASED ON SAFETY AND THE DEGREE OF HAZARD. THESE ZONES ARE DEFINED AT HOT, WARM, AND COLD ZONES AND ARE LOCATED INSIDE THE ISOLATION PERIMETER.
HAZARD CONTROL ZONE:
CONTROL ZONE IMMEDIATELY SURROUNDING A HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INCIDENT THAT EXTENDS FAR ENOUGH TO PREVENT ADVERSE EFFECTS FROM HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RELEASES TO PERSONNEL OUTSIDE THE ZONE
HOT ZONE
CONTROL ZONE AT A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT WHERE PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT DECON AND HOT ZONE SUPPORT.
